I just found out that the titanium versions of mechwarrior 2 are actually the easiest versions to run under xp. All you need to do is install as normal and put the .exe of any of the games into windows 95 compatibility mode. Then download a patch for the game and thats it.There is one patch for each game contained in the titanium trilogy. PM and ill give you the links, follow the on screen instructions from the patch and thats it. Using this method i have had no problems at all. Its much easier than using the DOS versions and it has much better graphics. enjoy.
/patches not made by me, credit should be given to the creator/ I just dont know who created them. Also tell me if you guys have seen these or not. thanks.
There is a patch for each game in the titanium pack.

Re: Titanium and xp. easy patch
Do those patches fix the mech lab bug that prevents you from using custom configurations?

Re: Titanium and xp. easy patch
From what I understand no, but I have not used it as I do not like titanium... I have read though the problem still exists with that.
However, if you do not use that patch and use slugs wrapper it may be fixed, but I have not heard any reports one way or another so that may be innacurate.
If you test it lemme know so I can mark that down, but slug claims to have fixed it.

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Re: Titanium and xp. easy patch
Thanks for the patch! I wish I could customize my Mechs but this will do for now.
I encountered a problem while playing Ghost Bear's Legacy. During the gameplay, the game will freeze for about 10 seconds, then continue. It happens more frequently when there is action going on, like when enemy mechs are shooting at me, either at close range or at a distance. While it freezes, all of the action in the game continues to take place. So this means that if I'm torso twisted towards the enemy and running to the right, and I have an Atlas in my crosshairs, then it freezes, after it continues the Atlas wouldn't be there anymore and I would have missed my shot to take him out, which is frustrating, because I'm losing missions due to this. The Inner Sphere barbarians would destroy my dropship with their elementals while I'm waiting for the game to continue.
I was just wondering if anyone else encountered this problem too. It doesn't matter if I turn the graphics all of the way down or if I use the software rendering or 3D card rendering. I haven't tried playing 31st CC or Merc with the Titanium patches yet to see if it happens with those games, because I don't care about those games as much as GBL.
I'm using a Dell Dimension 8300, Pentium 4 3.00Ghz, 256MB RAM, with a nVidia GeForce FX 5200. My Alienware is down for the moment
Also, my Alienware laptop wouldn't let me install Win98 at all, even after wiping the hard disk, to setup for a dual boot, like I did on my older laptop just to play MechWarrior 2.
Unfortunately, I own both the BattlePack and Titanium Editions, and not the DOS version. It was covered on another thread, but I'm also having that same problem of not being able to install the BattlePack, so I can't even attempt to patch that version.
On a side note, I got 31st Century Combat running about 6 months ago by swapping the Battlepack and Titanium CDs around while installing the game to trick the installation, then I used the Hex Editor. But there was no music in the game. I don't remember which CD I used first to start the installation and which version I got to run successfully but I thought I'd mention it, incase anyone else wants to try something like that. I guess I proved how desperate I was to try and get the game running.

Okay, I fixed this problem. For anyone else who might have encountered this problem, here's how I did it.Raby760 wrote:Thanks for the patch! I wish I could customize my Mechs but this will do for now.

The problem existed because when running MechWarrior 2 using the nVidia GeForce FX 5200, the video card failed to "redraw" the video when there is action taking place, like explosions and weapons fire. To fix this problem, I re-installed the drivers for the video card, and the drivers I downloaded contains the nVidia Control Panel. Simple fix. Here's the link to those drivers. http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/ ... -5200.html

Just wanted to add. This does work with vista.
