Article linked by npsbre wrote: Twelve of the ‘Unseen’ images previously used within the BattleTech universe were involved in a court case in the 1990s: Archer, Longbow, Rifleman, Warhammer, Wasp, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, Crusader, Marauder, Stinger LAM, Wasp LAM and Phoenix Hawk LAM. This we knew. But at the end of that court case, as part of a confidential settlement, it was agreed that the sole and exclusive world-wide right to these images (outside of Japan) would rest with another US company.
So these mechs are still not coming back, and MechWarrior 3015 will have to live without them. So celebrate the IIC variants in MW2!

What does "IIC" stand for anyway? I've wondered this for countless years.

I think it also means 2c but I don't know what the C in 'IIC' stands for...

The Clans keep various Star League Mechs in service. If they are used with only minor changes, they are labeled C, for Clan. If there are major changes, they are labeled IIC.

Examples: Annnihilator C, Orion IIC, Rifleman IIC

The IIC variants of the original unseen may be included, I'm not sure. At least in the revised TRO 3055 the Rifleman IIC, Warhammer IIC, etc. aren't there anymore, and you can see the same thing in MW2:31CC vs. MW2:Mercs.

If I understand correctly, what still has been restored are the designs that became unseen later, like the Stone Rhino (also in TRO 3055, but not based on an original unseen).

Fortunately we still get some of the Unseen, like the Locust and Battlemaster, just not the Macross ones. Perhaps we'll end up with the Project Phoenix redesigns in MW3015?

For the record, here are the Unseen that are still coming back:
Locust
Valkyrie
Ostscout
Griffin
Scorpion
Shadow Hawk
Wolverine
Ostroc
Ostsol
Thunderbolt
Goliath
Battlemaster
and any (II)C variants of the above
