Re: Reintroduce/introduce your selves here
Well... This seems to be the official thread for posting intros... Alright I'll go...
SirxMMPD may know me a bit when I pleaded for help on Youtube trying to get the AOL Softkey version running on Windows XP, untill I got that error trying to launch...
Anyway, I am a long-time fan of the Mechwarrior series. I have been playing Mechwarrior 2 on the family old Powermac 6500 ever since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, I grew up with the good-old Timberwolf... So you could say I have been playing Mechwarrior for quite sometime...
Anyway, I got the 3dfx enhanced version of Mechwarrior 2 running on Windows XP. With a patch, compatibility settings, and dgvoodoo.
I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Re: Reintroduce/introduce your selves here
Good to meet ya, Bugga! Glad you found our site!
Your history sounds a lot like mine. I was just a small kid when I started to play MW2.
And through more than a decade, even when new games and consoles arrived on the scene, Mechwarrior 2 in my opinion has stood the tests of time. It has always been my favorite game.

Re: Reintroduce/introduce your selves here
I suppose I should have posted here first, huh?
I found this site thru Not5id's and Sir MMPD's videos on Youtube. I saw a thread about Mechwarrior on a different site, and it flooded my brain with so many memories, I decided to look up a few vids.
Mechwarrior was my childhood. Going to my friend's house and discussing different varients, showing each other difficult missions, creating our own 'mechs out of legos or Sculpey. 'Twas a happy day when my grandparents bought me Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries for christmas. It has remained my absolute favorite game of all time.
So anyways, before I go into a long, drawn-out, dramatic tale about my childhood, I'll cut it short and say you can call me Centipede.
I really hope I can relive my past here, both in discussion, and in figuring out how the heck to make it work again (I made a thread about my situation, which probably isn't all that unique).
I'll check back in the morning. It's almost 3am. Should probably do what normal people do and go to sleep.

Welcome Centipede, hope your legs are well rested by the time you read this
I hope you enjoy your stay. Myg recently posted a version of MercNet that will allow you to play Mercenaries online, if you can find players on chat, but many prefer NetMech, which only provides Clan mechs, and I will type a reply to your Mercs question right after submitting this post.

Re: Reintroduce/introduce your selves here
Welcome to mech2.org, Centipede! Good to see you found our site! (I say that to all new members)
I too love MechWarrior2 and Mercenaries. But now since the middle of 2008, I have collected a new interest in the game; modding! Which in short means playing god with what the original creators made. I am always creating new mechs and levels... that sorta thing.
You can check the stuff I make in Col.Kell's Trial of Grievance Map Pack 2, Build-a-Mech, or my Build-a-World thread. Hope you can get the chance to see them!

No kidding??? I did the very same thing about a decade ago! I wish I had the right Lego pieces to build the Timberwolf....creating our own 'mechs out of legos or Sculpey.

Re: Reintroduce/introduce your selves here
Thanks for the welcome. I can't wait to check out some of your stuff Col.Kell. It may be awhile though, since I seem to be technologically handicapped, and I still need to get my game working. I'm going to work on that today though, since I'm getting help now
My legs are plenty rested. Moreso than they should I think. Somehow managed to sleep until 3pm. I feel like I should be ashamed, but really I'm just groggy. Hmm.
I'll probably be back to flail around helplessly, asking questions about things I don't understand. Thanks again for the nice welcome.
