The palming technique is when the palm of your hand touches the mouse, or comes close to contacting the mouse (depending upon the size of your hand and the size of your mouse).
The clawing thechnique is when you suspend your palm from the mouse only making contact with your finger-tips.
THe picture I show is how i usualy palm and claw the mouse. However I rarely claw the mouse.

i am defiantly a claw, but i have a wrist pad, so my claws are little more extended, but the mouse is well away from my palm
