im running it through the entry in my start menu(start/all programs/Mech Warrior 2 DOS/MechWarrior2 DOS),but a weird thing is if i go in C:\Mech2\Mech2.exe i have music but i cant play the story like jade falcon or clan wolf only those trials . i was reading in other topics about the .cue file? i followed SirxMMPD's tutorial on youtube but i didnt really get the whole .cue file part of it .what do i do with those files i got from cloning the CD?

There are a number of reasons why this might go wrong. You indicate that you have music in certain situations, so your CDROM probably has the necessary cable to the mainboard installed. IIRC, you need to install VDMS if you're running Windows XP for MW2's music. DosBox needs a CUE sheet to produce music, and DosBox is only needed under Windows Vista and Windows 7. Do you get music if you run the game from MechVM?

What did you use to clone your CD, I'm assuming your using a virtual mount?
A lot of CD mounter's don't actually copy over the audio tracks from MW2, all they collect are the data files necessary to play the game itself. So what you may need to do is just rip the music files from the disc, and then play them in like winamp, mediaplayer, or itunes. Otherwise just use the original CD.
At least if I'm understanding what the actual problem is.
