Hail Warriors,
I would like to know if anyone has successfully installed The Battlepack version of MW2 or GBL on XP or Vista ?
I have tried several different things but have been unsuccessful at getting it to install.
Please let me know if you have some advice for getting this edition to work on one of my machines.
Thanks!

You're right, Battlepack currently does not work natively under Windows XP, Vista or 7. AFAIK, if you really want it to work, you will have to set it up using Win95, either in a virtual machine or on an old computer. I don't recall anyone posting their experiences trying to run it in WINE, but that might also be an option.
We are unable to repair it, because we don't have source code for it, and finding these bugs in a disassembler isn't my idea of a good time.

Looks like I might just look into getting an old machine. I got a bunch of old games

I have both battlepacks installed natively on Windows XP Pro. I installed manually since the installer crashed and then patched with mw2mercs patch.
Cheers!

Glad to hear you got it working. The new version of MechVM should be able to do the same, easier:

Yup! Now that works too. However playing the game directly from MechVM's console doesn't work for me, since there's only a white empty window after I click the Play Game-button. Also the 'Keshik Maximum Tonnage' error is still there.....
Thank You!

Well, good news. Battlepack supports launching from the command line, try "gblwin branscn1". So it may be possible to use the reprogrammed shell to configure mechs and launch BattlePack sim from it. We'll see how it goes.

Hi Skyfaller,
Tried launching "mw2win branscn1" from cmd-line. That works too. I don't know what scenario it plays and how it will help with the mech lab problem I mentioned before.
Cheers!

It's good news because it means that we can use MechVM's shell replacement instead of BattlePack's to circumvent the error in the Mech Lab, once MechVM's shell replacement is finished.
