The obvious truth - quick Story

Sometimes something so obvious is perfect.

Today during my American Government class at college we were studying how the House and the Senate pass bills to be signed by the President.
I was assigned to the Senate. We were tasked with creating legislation to pass the senate. If your bill fails sit down. I first began with a real serious issue.
President Obama when he came into office he promised that people would get less tax refunds for donating to charities or churches, so I wrote.
More tax incentives for those that donate to churches.
The first person next to me agreed after thinking for a second.
The second person read it and immediately turned it down.
She then proceeded to show me her bill which simply said
I love my cat snuggles [some name like that].
Since it was an obvious general statement, I agreed to it as did everyone but one person.

I sat there for about 5 minutes killing time when the teacher said that we could try and pass more than one bill.
So in a aura of mischievousness I decided to try and pass something of value through the fake Senate.
I wrote on my paper
General statements Generally pass.
I walked up to everyone on my side and asked them if they agreed with the statement.
As expected no one disagreed nor asked to read the folded paper.
In essence it passed, so I handed it to the teacher which laughed abit when she read it.

It proceeded to the House of Representatives.
When it was read to the people there someone yelled out
WHOEVER WROTE THAT IS A GENIOUS! Seriously deep stuff we have here!
After that it was very close. Only one person out of about 15-20 people turned it down.

It is expected to be reintroduced next period, but I think whether or not it passes I made my point.
Read Last
The funniest part about it is that I did write more on that paper. (remind you of any 1900+ page bill?)
I wrote on the folded over side which no one deigned to actually read
Except when people actually read the bill.
I really wish I had put on it something like
All representatives who pass this bill must resign upon its passing.
LOL
Anyway that is my short story hehe.

That is the richest thing I've ever heard happen in a social studies class. Lucky.
