Does anyone play MW2 and/or MW2/Mercs2 multiplayer anymore?

no clue. Dial-up modem. We were having lightning all around, and when it was over, my modem just wouldn't work. And my mom won't let me play games on her Vista (the one i'm using)

just so you know though in order to play online you need a midrange machine at minimum.
2.2 ghz P4 is the absolute minimum.
The package to play online is prepackaged to play in XP and Vista.
Why is this required? It is required because we play in DOSBOX over an emulated IPX connection on our server.
There is no other way to play online except kali which no one uses anymore.

How do you do it in XP ? I installed that NetmechDOS thing, but I never see anyone on when I start it.
Do I have to install any real files in addition? I don't hear any sound, but that may just be because it uses none until game starts. How do I configure my controllers? Just calibrate in XP before hand? I'd have to find the CH calibration tool, not sure if I have it anymore.
Too bad no way for me to connect from DOS, because it would let me use my old Thrustmaster controllers which are teh bomb.

You have to setup a game in IRC before even going in netmech. No one ever goes to netmech unless there is a game arranged in chat.
IRC can be found in the package presetup as well, it is in the start menu labeled netmech chat.
There is no other setup required (other than the one change mentioned at the beginning of the thread), but if you want a controller other than keyboard and mouse ya on ya own really..
Everyone online uses keyboard and mouse because the joystick or gamepad is a liability.
Now the controls can be configured by clicking the mechlab button.
As for in game sound, there is none until the game launches.

ok cool, will get someone to come in game with me soon and just see how it works in XP.
I got the DOS machine and Mercs DOS running now, with my Thrustmaster chain, and it works great as I remembered. I can do everything except chat without ever touching the keyboard or mouse.
