when i tried to run the demo it showed the begining video as per usual then when it ended the whole screen went black heard some flames still no visual then heard text being typed on screen like you were at the mission start screen still no visual i couldn't exit the program either so i had to restart my computer any ideas why im not getting any visual at all?

Its a demo... many computers even at the time of the demo could not run the thing properly. I cannot duplicate your problem I am sorry to say.
If you used the links in the start menu it should be working. Use the configuration option there. Try each of the video modes, your comp many not be able to handle the mode being used by default.
