A bit overdue to post, but here's a very useful tool Hank found if you've ever wanted to plug your game console's controller into your computer. With Xpadder, you can plug virtualy any controller in, manualy assign keys and functions, and use your controller for... well, anything! I use Xpadder to turn my Xbox 360 controller into a mouse, and one occasion when I played Mechwarrior with a Rockband guitar and Drumset for Red Alert 2! Just download the single half-megabyte executionable file, plug what you want in, assign the keys, and you're done! No rediculous .dlls or drivers needed!
You can download Xpadder here.

Could you clarify what you mean by "calibrate properly"? Do you mean assigning controller buttons to keys?
