How do INSTALL through DOSBOX?

Post by Dan Pyre »

Hello everyone.

I have my Mercs .cue File being read by DOSBox, but I have no idea on how to make DOSBox install it. And yes, it is a combo DOS/Win 95 Mercs disk as I have run it through DOS on my XP. How do I make the install run?

Assuming the disk is mounted as drive D,

Code: Select all

D:
cd dos
install

Okay, thanks. It installed. I played it for a bit, logged out. Now how do I make it RUN again through DOSBox? (Command lines please?) It's already installed, no?

Probably something like:

Code: Select all

cd mercs
mercs
I think the default install directory is called "MERCS" but if it isn't, just cd to whatever it's called.

Okay, I am in need of help.

I am mounting my local directory in dosbox as "mount d D:\DOS\". When D: drive is active, I type "INSTALL". it looks like at this point the game is trying to install under dosbox, but all the sudden the mercs dos installation window said "The CD must be inserted to install.". Why does the installation program in dosbox not recognise my CD?

This does the same thing when I try to play under dosbox; it can't "find" the CD.

PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!

isomount the cue file of your Mercs disk image. To make a cue file from your Mercs CD, CloneCD is one such tool to do this.

Edit 12/06/08 -- imgmount (not isomount) in DOSBox.

Big favor, but, can I get a link for the smallest sized CloneCD program option? Or a link to their website?

OK, np, I have somehow installed Mercs through dosbox. But by accident.

I am wondering how I play Mercs through dosbox now. Assuming I have mounted nothing, my cd-drive is D:\, my IMAGE.CUE file is at C:\, what are the step-by-step prompts to get this working?

follow the steps in the FAQ for mech it is identical.
James 3:5-10: My Reminder
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
