Did you mean the forum FAQs? Because I found no such luck. :(
I've already installed Mercs under Windows version, I set it to compatibility mode for '98, and it still crashes when I run it. What do I need to do?

Use this hook, and you are done..

You will have an unfixable custom mech bug since you are using mercs 95 though.
If you install the DOS version, you will have less trouble.

Now what about GBL?

Post by Col.Kell »

Okay, Mercs is working fine on the "Hook" you recommended, but I've also been running GBL on it as well. Now, at first, the game seems to be working fine, but I got to playing it a bit more, and annoying things like the screen going black after finishing a mission, I can't change my 'mech in the campaign, stuff like that happen :( . Is there something that could be done to fix these problems? Or at least keep the screen from going black? Again, Windows is my only option because I don't know how to enable VESA support to play on DOS.
Thanks.

sorry there is no solution for the 95 versions. They pretty much are as is.
If you read the DOS FAQ's there you can find everything you need to get it running. There is no need to enable VESA support, you just need SAPUCDEX.EXE, nolfb.com, MOUSE2KV.EXE. Truly even these are optional if you use the DOSBOX solution.

If you get stuck come on IRC I may be able to help possibly.

Hold It!

I found out, instead of downlading all this stuff, you can just turn off the in-game music on GBL to avoid those "blackouts" after finishing a mission! But I play the game while running a Windows Media Player playlist. :)
