Controls question

Post by Warcat »

Hello. I haven't played this game for a long time and now modern game have spoiled me and I no longer have any joysticks. is it possible to change throttle controls to WSAD keys or something? It doesn't work in the options menu, basically what I'm asking is there a way to bypass this? Thanks

well, yes and no.
You probably could use an external application to remap keys temporarily so you could play that way, but by default those keys are not editable.
You can edit it through input.map with a text editor, but for a wasd configuration I have never bothered to try.
Make sure to backup before editing it!

Alternatively if you use the DOS version through DOSBOX you can remap controls with that.

You can edit input.map or inputw.map (depends on which version you use) using a text editor. Back it up before any changes, because the sim will complain about things it doesn't understand. If you get it working, please post it here. Note that you will have to remap the "a" key (autopilot), "w" (wireframe).

Making a better control configurator is on our list, but that list is already rather long. If you get your config working, please post it here for others to use.
