We may be able to do cool new stuff with NetMech later this year.

Re: NetMech and DosBox 0.73 (testing...)
MMPD and I have been successful in calling the sim part of NetMech directly from the command line, so I hope I will be able to make a new shell for NetMech that invokes the old sim. That shell could include a Mech Lab for NetMech, and we'd be able to include custom levels and mechs into the game, if everything works out as supposed. We'd also be able to test for classes C1...C6 automatically. But so far, this is only a plan, and I can't tell if it will work.

Cool. I always wanted to know what KAM mechs would be like on Netmech (btw I have made 4 new mechs, and a 5th on the way) but I have wondered how the engine would display them... hope you and MMPD can get all those things figured out. That would be neat.Skyfaller wrote:That shell could include a Mech Lab for NetMech, and we'd be able to include custom levels and mechs into the game

If anyone has tested this, please post if you find the instructions easy to follow, if it works and if this is a viable alternative to the older installer we have. Thank you.

Works for me.Skyfaller wrote:If anyone has tested this, please post if you find the instructions easy to follow, if it works and if this is a viable alternative to the older installer we have. Thank you.
Also, the new shell should have a controls config too...Even though the file is human-readable, it's nice to actually do in-game.
Perhaps, with your super special coding skills, you can take the controls/NetMech shell from MW2 itself and put it in the new shell? Somethigng like that would be really neat.
