I have succeed in getting Track IR Motion capture to work with Mech2!!!

http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/ Camera & Clip you use to capture motion of your head, and translate it to ingame movement.

Using a program http://kaf.tri6.net/trackmapper/ Trackmapper, it simulates keyboard keys from the direction you move your head.

I got this to work in Mech2, for the cockpit glancing. I will put up a video later showing this ingame and me using it. :o

But this is an extremely cool thing, I can pilot my mech and look without having to actually move my torso and look around the cockpit with ease.

If anyone else wants to use this too, I have attached the Trackmapper config file for those that want it.

The custom mech2 controls required to be set are

Code: Select all

Glance Left: [ Glance Right: ] Glance Up: G Glance Down: H

Nice, wolfcub. There was some old early "VR" headset that worked with MW2, too, but TrackIR is a lot more modern (and better since you still use your monitor and not little eye screens). So this is sort of like coming full circle, as MW2's "virtual cockpit" was a pretty awesome thing when it first came out.

are yall talking this thing?

cause i would rather just get the wii controler and bar, and then do the "neurohelm" aka a hat

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw good vid to show how/what head tracking looks like

alot cheaper, and you really could make a neurohelm:) especially if you got a pair of those glasses, that put little 2in screens in front of your eyes, so it looks like you are looking at a 10ft screen

If you like screwing with things alot, then do a wii, but this is ALOT simpler and honestly, just a hundred bucks, and REALLY efficient. In my opinion, much better then playing a wii in terms of movements.

On this note, can get a Wiimote to work on your computer if you have Bluetooth and this freeware program called "Glovepie"...
