The interview is here:

This ends the speculation in the previous thread, so I took the liberty of starting a new thread.

Re: MechWarrior Rebooted
I must say the Warhammer Pilot in the video puts Warhammer Fans to shame -- although the Atlas Pilot certainly should have taken him much quicker with its short range advantages (AC-20, Various Lasers, etc..)
I never really agreed with Machine Guns in the Battletech universe. I mean to me, since Ferro Armor is so tough, the Mgun ammo has to be a very big caliber to penetrate that Ferro Armor. Kinda like taking a rifle that fires a 5.56mm round and expecting it to penetrate through a tank.
At any case, I like how the bullets were hitting the Atlas

Re: MechWarrior Rebooted
From what I read, it sounds like a step in the right direction and I agree with what they say. There is critcism of going back to 3015 at Mektek, but I think it's more out of frustration over seeing their own NP project finding an unbeatable opponent.
It may be that modding MW2 gains in importance for me as a result. The new NetMech shell is still a worthy goal, though. We shall see.
I think they went public before finding a publisher in order to raise pressure on the publishers.

Re: MechWarrior Rebooted
Looks actually pretty damn good so far.
My only gripes:
-The on-board computer seems to be annoying. Oh well. I've already accepted that it gets worse with each MechWarrior game.
It'll probably be replaced before release or after modding though.
-It seems those huge beam-style lasers are back. I must say I liked the 'bolt' lasers better.
Perhaps they'll use bolts for Pulse Lasers, we'll have to see.
-How freaking HUGE the Mech explosion was.
However, this could be just highly exaggerated to smoothly end the trailer.
EDIT: Or not, as canon on 3015 time there ARE no Pulse Lasers yet.
However, being that this is a reboot, they may be added, if not just for multiplayer.

Re: MechWarrior Rebooted
3015 makes a lot of sense. They won't need to build many mechs, or support too many weapons. However, in that era, physical combat is a must.

Re: MechWarrior Rebooted
well mech2 didnt really have a cockit type environment when you were playing. Yes you were inside the mech and inside the canopy, but there were no visible controls, buttons, gadgets, etc... at least not until mw3
I personally welcome the whole cockpit look since mw3, since it adds to the environment in which you're in (more look and feel)
And of course this is just a cinematic trailer -- the actual game footage might be very different than this

Re: MechWarrior Rebooted
What do you know, it seems now MechWarrior 4 (and all expansions/ mech packs) will be released for free over the next few days.
I wonder if something akin to that can be worked up for Mech2/3/etc.

At least NetMech has always been free. We intend to improve NetMech.
