MMPD, crew: Keep an eye on JDosbox. When complete it will allow the community to have a way to play Mechwarrior/netmech games from the mech2.org website without having to download anything (a good alternative to current setup).

http://sourceforge.net/projects/jdosbox ... =directory

JDosBox is also attempting a 3dfx version, so if anyone wants to try that out, give it a go. It is pretty easy to use since it is just a .jar file (it loads a folder called '.dosbox' in the local folder of the jar in which the .conf file is stored)

I propose the following arrangement when the time comes (tested and does not load into multiplayer match properly at the time of posting).

(Website:)
-------------------------------
Jdosbox emulation with netmech/MechWarrior 2 demo:
------------------------------
IRC chat System:
------------------------------
Forum:

In that descending order from top to bottom.

All the best! Peace out!

As well, keep an eye out on the JsDosBox port as well (will require less work I think).

http://sourceforge.net/projects/jsdosbo ... =directory

It is newer and might take some time for it to become something of fruition...

If I may, I object to having only the option of playing the game on the website. What if the said website goes down? Unless it's hosted on the same hardware as the Netmech server we are using, in which case my point's slighlty moot. Although should something freak out on the website, like say it becomes defaced, with current setup Netmech is still going to be playable, right?
