Merging Netmech Revival with Mech2

Post by -Myg »

Hey there guys, looking for thoughts concerning merging these two projects together, what do you think?

http://netmech.mygamesonline.org

&

http://www.mech2.org

If Jester would be available to comment, how would he feel about merging his http://www.mechwarrior2.org into it also?

no probs here, i would love to integrate Jesters work into a frontend...
I have too many projects going at the same time to actually do much with our site than the forums.
Unfortuneatly I have not heard from Jester in a long while

Ok then, how about we find a content management system and use that for our base?

Currently we both use phpbb for our forums, and I agree on that, but there are nice front-end projects out there that would help alot with the presentation.

Joomla comes to mind (mektek uses it I think)

that I am not so hot on, because usually it takes more time customizing it than it takes to build it....
However that is only the experience I had with Nuke a few years back.

Joomla I am willing to give a shot, however is it possible to keep the boards seperate from a content management system and keep the users synced?
Or at least are they using phpbb3?

I am thinking about upgradeability, and the boards are very important when it comes to updates security or otherwise.
