Hey Guys,

Did any of you get to play Multiplayer BattleTech online?

From what I have read it was pretty awesome.

I unfortunately did not get to play the older ones, which if I remember right MPBT:Solaris was a pay-to-play game offerd by AOL back in the mid-90s. There was also another version of MPBT around that era too, it would have been the original MPBT:3025, but I do not know much about it.

However i did get a chance to play the MPBT:3025 beta that EA came out with, and yes, what they had set up was awesome, that is if you could get past EA’s server crashing daily, which to my knowlage is why they abandoned the MPBT:3025 game.
You initially picked out an allegiance to one of the five Houses of the Inner Sphere, you started off low in the ladder and worked your way up and bought and repaired your own mechs (it has been along time, but I think I remember you could do a little bit of customization on them). The action for MPBT:3025 was very streamlined and automated, it played like a planetary league. You could go to neighbouring territories, which acted as individual chat-rooms (if I remember right you could chat in them) and contained the (challenges/games/servers?) that you engaged in combat with players of the neighbouring house to fight for control of the territory.

Wasn't there two options; you could pay to play by the hour, or you could make a flat monthly or weekly fee?

I played the MPBT:3025 one wasn't bad. I didn't get to play it very long though. it died quickly. I think I only got to play maybe 20 matches or so on my dialup

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
