Favorite Innersphere/Merc Faction?
Now this may be hard to pick, but what about your favorite inner sphere/merc fraction?
not sure if I have a pick, i don't know too much about battletech to be jumping to conclusions.
For military, I'd have to pick the Draconis Combine. They are filled with elite rigiments like the sword of light, they have many soldiers who will pawn thier lives to help ensure sure they win, and they are (very) good at maintaining dicipline (e.g., POW, slave labor, execution...).
Although I think the Combine doesn't do so well at politics, there is definitly something wrong with their government if the planets under thier control keep rebeling on them. Like Beta 7, Prosperna, New Ivvarsen...

Blech. Can't stand the Combine. Fascist pieces of trash.
As you can see by my avatar, I'd be part of the Black Widow Company. They're kind of a bunch of misfits, but if they need to get crap done, they get it done WELL. I dunno what House I'd choose. They all kind of annoy me.

I like the Federated Suns
I enjoyed the Merger between the Steiners and the Davions
Federation Commonwealth was a major power that could have over ran the IS.
p.s.
i think this thread should be specifically which IS faction you like, then a separate thread for Merc units you like

Federated Commonwealth. They would be the best governing force to rule the IS.
At least they aren't the Third Reich of Battletech like the Combine. The Combine may have a good military, but they clearly lack the support from their citizens.
Come to think of it... that's often a cause of why real-life civilizations lose wars sometimes.

Battletech and other games always have relationships to real life...
(bad way of saying it -- i cant articulate what i want to say there, hehe)

Battletech Clan politics can't compare anymore possible to real life than in this semi-agricultural household of mine.Pepsi-Wolf wrote:Battletech and other games always have relationships to real life...

Yeah, if I HAD to choose a faction, I'd go with the FedCom. Probably would have been the best thing for the I.S.

I personally did enjoy the combine. Both as a villain, and as a hero. more complicated than most for sure.

Re: Favorite Innersphere/Merc Faction?
for sure tho
the faction i dislike most is Capplean Confederation.
Free Worlds League I view as the wussiest of them all, since they never really were in danger from the first clan invasion.
I dont really know how good their Knights of the Inner Sphere are either...

Hansen's Roughriders came from a large group of mechwarriors from the Free Worlds League; That very well known group of mercs who were recognized for thier heavy mechs and support, close-quarters skills, and rough fighters.Pepsi-Wolf wrote:Free Worlds League I view as the wussiest of them all, since they never really were in danger from the first clan invasion.

...And who could forget Sergeant "Deadeye" Unther?
