Kraken (Bane)
The Bane (called Kraken in the Inner Sphere) is a 100-ton Jade Falcon non-OmniMech. I found it important as an alternative to the Daishi, which is used mostly by Clans Wolf and Smoke Jaguar. However, I found its artwork a bit weird. For one thing, the mech looks unbalanced, as if tumbling backwards or decelerating, so I changed the stance. Moreover, the mount on the left shoulder with four MG's blocks the MechWarrior's vision, so I changed that and reduced it to a size I found more fitting. A new design has been proposed in TRO:3055 Upgrade, but I prefer the original artwork with the changes I made.
Before I add further detail, I'd like to know how you feel about the changes I made.

not bad
James 3:5-10: My Reminder
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

definetly. The legs of the first picture remind me almost those of a Crab's; looks like its gonna fall over.Skyfaller wrote:However, I found its artwork a bit weird. For one thing, the mech looks unbalanced, as if tumbling backwards or decelerating
The 3d mech you made is looking good. One thing I think; the shoulder weapon looks a bit small, and it looks more like PART of the mech rather than a weapon mounted ATOP it. Again, looks good. Nice work.

These are four machine guns, that's why I thought that pod should be so small. Later versions of the Kraken carry ATMs on the shoulder, for which I would use larger pods.Col.Kell wrote: One thing I think; the shoulder weapon looks a bit small, and it looks more like PART of the mech rather than a weapon mounted ATOP it.

Re: Kraken (Bane)
i have used banes alot in megamek....and i had never seen a pic of one till this thread
i do have to say that i like the orginal alittle better. to me "bane" almost translates to evil...and the odd angles the weird balances, they make it look more "deamonish"

Re: Kraken (Bane)
From your comments I gather that I should bring back the oversized shoulder mount because even if it only houses 4 machine guns, it strikes fear into the heart of warriors opposing it. Good point.
While I would like to keep the mech balanced physically, I will check if the lower legs can be shortened.

Re: Kraken (Bane)
you changed the stance, but your using a 3 joint leg, your stance needs a 4 joint leg
other wise you wont get around that...constipated look

Arms and shoulder-pod look neat. Gives it that heavy-hitter appearance.
I will agree with Cyril; it does look... umm... constipated. No offense

Re: Kraken (Bane)
I do not wish to add support for 4-joint legs. I think I will change the lower legs to match the original artwork and shorten them a bit.
About the mech being "constipated": please keep in mind that this mech pours out tons of ammo through 10 UAC/2's. Way to lose weight.
