Team Sides and Insignias Used by Gamepieces

Post by Col.Kell »

Looky here at what I found!
These are found at the way top of SCN1.BWD files.

Take a look at these numbers highlighted in yellow that come after the words "Star", the first number after "Star" tells the sim what .XEL file to use as an insignia (In GBL, ranges from 00-06), and the second number after "Star" tells the sim what "team" a certain star is on (00 for friendly, 01 for neutral, and 02 for enemy). The number that comes after the capitalized "STAR" tells the sim what insignia YOU use.

This can come in handy for custom scenarios.
...Who want's to play as a Smoke Jaguar? :P

Thanks Kell, that information might turn out to be valuable:
  • MechVM may need to know which insignia to put on mechs at some point,
  • and someone might use that information to fix the Titanium Trilogy insignias now.
Again, congratulations!

And while working on a very heavy project, I am finding all kinds of interesting things about mission tables I never knew before. I don't know enough yet on how to rebuild them to make new mission objectives, but I do know what makes the target of an objective , which is EXTREMELY important. There is still the matter of objective "priority", and the "if-then" scenario that comes into play when things become complex.

OHH! New thought that came up I never thought of before, a little off-topic, but here it is;

You can make (the illusion) of weather appear in 31cc or GBL! I never thought of it before, but do you remember the underwater mission in GBL? And remember those "bubbles" that float up to the surface? those bubbles are made from a scrounge file (petescri.bwd), and then a .XEL file is aplied to the scrounge to make it look like bubbles, then it is commanded to animate and loop. Thats how weather could be made! You could apply a different XEL file to the scrounge, make it animate downward and move much faster, and so you can then get it to look like rain or snow! Cool. :)

I thought I remember seeing snowflakes in GBL before too.

Just out of curiosity... I know you guys got a good portion of how to mod the sim portion of the game down, but how far along have you gotten with the "shell?" (like the main menus and holo viewers and such)?

I am close to complete a rewritten shell. By now, I have a working Mech Lab that allows to create Clan Mechs and star configuration.

This thread has more detail on how to activate it in MechVM:

This opens up lots of opportunities for modding MW2. Just ask, if you want more info.
