SKYFALLER,

Why havent you finished this project fully and completely yet?

If we had all this nicely figured we could work on a proper remake of mech2! :D

hmmm, looking at the source code; it seems Skyfaller has burnt himself out.

If you had used a higher level language to handle the file/IO/GUI and just limited your project to remaking mech2 and mech2 only, that might not have happened so quickly bro.

I don't suppose your like working under the surface without informing anyone; are ya?

I was all riled up to get to work on a mech2 remake and I see tons of work, that could of been divided a bit better If I had been around a bit more :_(

Awsome stuff otherwise.

Whats cracking with ya at the moment sky?

You're quite busy spraying the website with comments. I'm quite busy with other projects, that's all.

Most people just want to play the old, unaltered games, therefore I usually focus on the installer part of MechVM.

MechVM has a complete MechLab, it can emulate the 2D shell of MW2, and it has an incomplete sim. It can display the MW2 mechs with textures. I have also worked on level importers, but that part is also incomplete. The most important missing pieces to a working sim are animations, AI, and lots of game logic, such as weapons.

Even so, with the upcoming new MechWarrior editions, I don't know if there is much of a point in finishing the sim. I have a family to feed, and with the given competitors, there is no money to earn here.

Awsome, atleast thats out of the way!

So; we know whats going on with you and your reasons for trying to remake the game.

Sound.

So, I suppose we can call this project closed and move on to something else? (or maybe continue it?)

Sim wise, exactly how incomplete are we talking? From the sounds of it, its barely worked on, but because of the circumstances that is understandable.

MechVM is neither closed nor dead, but it is just one of numerous projects I currently deal with.

Regarding the sim, it can display a walking mech stomping through 3D terrain. No weapons, no enemies, no objects, no sound. Most of the development going on in MechVM targets keeping the original game running.

Myg, please let me know what you actually want to do, and whether you think it's realistic.

Demonslayer, I have not yet found the time to investigate the problems you pm'ed me, but the mail is still in my inbox and I won't delete it until I find the time to do something about the things you describe.

Man, well your efforts are appreciated. I come from both a modest programming background and majored in 2D animation/3D animation.

I understand all too well the issue with time.

With not enough hands on board the job and spirit of working on something this big would be overwhelming. Nothing would make me happier than to see something like MechWarrior Minnesota tribe storyline with a nifty 3D opening or something to that effect.

Still I'm very impressed with your level of progress and commitment. :D
