Geocities Closing!

Post by Sir MMPD Radick »

Just found out Geocities is closing!

We better mirror Lupinskys site before it is too late!
(Also I better grab my old content)

been trying to get the files myself, but geocities has a limit of 4 megs an hour.... makes it nearly impossible to do a backup.
I use HTTrack to back up the site as it rewrites the urls so that they work properly.

Edit:

After alot of work I finally got the entire site backed up pictures and all.
When geocities goes under I will put up a mirror of kanajana's site unless he responds back to me saying not to. (sent an e-mail, but no reply)
It truly will be a sad thing if that site goes under permanently.

I've had a geocities site for about 10 years. It's too bad they're closing. But as of late I've been fed up with the free service. I think I will switch to Google instead.

geocitie's original interface for setting up a "new" city or account or whatever was horrible.

you had to choose a location, street, street number, etc...

i used Foruntecity (50mb yay! \o/ ) and Tripod back in the day

Is the mirror up? If not, could we have a zip with images too?

Thank you Sir!
