depends on how much soda you actually consume
I personally have tried many times over many years to cut back

I hate withdrawal symptoms that come along with trying to quit soda

Drink half a twelve pack of Pepsi or more. Perhaps the reprocusions then will sober you. :)

I did. I was a tightwad cheapskate and couldn't resist free drink or refills. After that horrible aftermath I lived 3 months without a drop of soda in fear of getting another kidny infection and sore throat... and... a few other symptoms... :|

I'm trying to control myself when I go out to eat
what I'll do is when I get a drink (usually free with most combos), I'll just fill it up with water while I'm eating. Then when I'm ready to go, i'll just go ahead and fill it with soda. That way I'm not drinking over a gallon of soda in one sitting >.>

my (former) inlaws own an auto body shop and they tested if Coke would eat/dissolve through a car engine block one day.

The next day they looked it went through part of the engine block.

Of course a lot of people who ever heard that always say things like "Coke/Soda is bad for you. It can eat through an engine block, etc etc..."
Which i think is a total crock. I mean, everyone drinks coke and it doesnt dissolve through your stomach lining. Maybe due to the fact that your system processes that stuff in 1-3 hours. Or if its just a chemical reaction with Coke and Certain Metals/Chemical products in the engine.

In my limited experience, the coke doesn't interact with the pure metal at all, its the oxidized stuff (rust) it eats away, by removing the oxygen from it. Using coke to free up a stuck valve in an engine block is an old trick many shops have used over the years. Its a combination of the coke ingredients, and the carbonation. (hence why you need to change it to eat all the way through a tough rust)

Further info on the validity of the acidity of coke can be found here....

and here is why it removes rust decently.
