Firemoth vs. Mist Lynx

Sometimes, the most exciting things hide directly under your nose, or in this case, mine.

Ever notice that the animations for the Combat Simulator in GBL contains a Mist Lynx? At first glance, you might be mistaken and think it was a Firemoth with an incorrect arm configuration. For ease of reference, the screenshot below shows a Firemoth to the left, and a Mist Lynx to the right. Both mechs share the same leg structure, so the Mist Lynx could be seen as the Firemoth's larger brother.

So like the Puma, which was in one of the MW2 demos, they made geometry for the Mist Lynx, but didn't include it in the game.

In other news, a new version of MechVM is nearing completion. The installers for 31stCC, NetMech edition and Battlepack work fine in my current tests. With just a little more work, the Mech Lab could finally be made to work in the rewritten shell, but we'll see.

I remember seeing the Mist Lynx (didn't know what it was) years back and thinking "whoa, cool! what is that thing??? ...And why isn't it in the mech lab??? I want it!!!" :P

And hope the new edition of MechVM goes over well :)

Adding that mech to the mech lab? We know how to do that ... just need to find the time ...
