Re: I WANT TO KNOW WHATS UP HERE

MechVM is neither closed nor dead, but it is just one of numerous projects I currently deal with. Regarding the sim, it can display a walking mech stomping through 3D terrain. No weapons, no enemies, no objects, no sound. Most of the development going on in MechVM targets keeping the original game r...

Re: I WANT TO KNOW WHATS UP HERE

You're quite busy spraying the website with comments. I'm quite busy with other projects, that's all. Most people just want to play the old, unaltered games, therefore I usually focus on the installer part of MechVM. MechVM has a complete MechLab, it can emulate the 2D shell of MW2, and it has an in...

Re: Ubuntu & MechVM

I cant find a mechvm directory Did you download and unpack the MechVM source code? You will also require several development packages, probably SDL-devel and qt-devel - not sure how these are named in Ubuntu. Why do you want to use MechVM under Linux? You can configure MW2 for DosBox without MechVM...

Re: Getting the sounds out of MW2.PRJ

MechVM is open source. You can find the link to the source code in my signature.

I confirm that some sound files play badly. Please let me know if you can fix it.

Re: Installation of Mech 2 Dos/Windows CD

It appears to be Pentium Edition without MW2 Dos or Netmech. Pentium Edition usually works badly on modern systems, unless you use a virtual machine like VMWare Player or VirtualPC. Your CD is different from the disks I knew. The main reason the installer fails is because MW2.PRJ is in the main dire...

Re: Getting the sounds out of MW2.PRJ

Use the context menu to export and convert files while exploring mw2.prj. Most file formats are accessible. SFL was a sound file, IIRC. You can export entire directories or all of mw2.prj that way.

"View File" was probably the earliest feature in MechVM.

Re: Getting the sounds out of MW2.PRJ

Back!

Please use MechVM's "View File" with MW2.prj or database.mw2 to explore and export content from these archives.
Let me know if you need further help.

Re: Compiling MechVM on Linux

It is not necessary to create your own makefile - use "qmake; make" to compile MechVM under Linux. MechVM is open source; of course, you can post fixes. Unfortunately, I have not found time to put into MechVM for weeks, and I don't expect this to get better before September. If you can use the MechL...
