Re: 3DI (Animation)

I've been doing some testing today with the sim, and have updated my original post in this thread with the results. Specifically I've confirmed the interpretation of the track type values (0 to 5, other values appear to be ignored) and how they impact the interpretation of the track values (signed i...

Re: 3DI (Animation)

Okey dokey, this is what I have on the flag track so far. There are 8 bytes per frame, arranged like so: 0x00000FFF 0xAA 0xBB 0xCC 0xDD (a little-endian 32-bit integer followed by four bytes), where: 0x00000FFF is a set of control flags, described below. 0xAA, 0xBB, 0xCC and 0xDD are parameter value...

Re: Shell-based mech selections

It is confirmed; the sim will not accept a "pointer" BWD as a mech. I tried using the INCL tag (put it in the right place too) with my BWD name that had the FE FF tag, and kaput. I got an error that said "ERROR: CANTLOADMECH:" or something. Bugger :-( I can't do this tomorrow, I have a big day. Our...

Re: 3DI (Animation)

Excelent work! So this will mean if the 3DI files are modded then we'll have alternate mech animations? That would be nice for alternate mechs . :P Yeah, I thought you might see the potential in it. When I've got the flag track nutted out, I might knock together some basic tools for modifying the 3...

Re: 3DI (Animation)

Good work on the reengineering part, and I hope that headache is going to go away soon ;) You and me both  And thankyou :-) I swear, the way it all fell together tonight was bloody magic :-D I picked the first two fields quickly when I first started looking at the files a month ago and then ma...

3DI (Animation)

After banging my head against a brick wall for the last month without getting anywhere, tonight I finally made some headway on the 3DI animation format. For anyone who's interested, here's what I've got so far: [ Header ] DWORD animTrackCount DWORD framesPerTrack This is then followed by animTrackCo...

Re: Shell-based mech selections

Well for the BWD files in the RMG (Ready-Made-Groups) directory, I already knew in a way that was where the randomized structures came from. But could this hold the key that may prevent Mercenaries skirmish missions from sucking???? I will try my luck at new self-made RMGs using Ed Wong's Mercsedit...

Re: Shell-based mech selections

:( Bummer. I don't guess we'll be making a shell-selected-mech-mod in the near future... It doesn't look that way. Personally I'm not to keen on EXE hacking, so I'd probably be throwing in the towel on this one for now anyway :-P Why is there a mech table (mech.mtb) in the PRJ that looks almost 100...

Re: Shell-based mech selections

Gave Mercs a spin with one of the NAIS mechs: bugger.jpg Looks like we're crap out of luck :-( I put the ISWARDOG.BWD into the main Mercs directory, rolled a USERSTAR.BWD that named it with WASM, copied in some RMG BWD files I'd captured previously and ran mw2.exe from the prompt - and it crapped ou...

Re: Shell-based mech selections

you mean you'd like one of my mechs so you could experiment with making external-prj-shell-mech-selections? Why not I just give you an NAIS mech to save time? I haven't used NAIS - if it's a hack for Mercs I'll google it and play with it :-) And I tried making a custom .exe shell. For some reason t...
