Lurkers unite

Hi, I just got a message about a possible cull of users. I don't know if it is legit or not. I haven't been very active lately, but I haven't had anything constructive to contribute. I haven't played MW2 in almost a year, and I'm not an expert on helping troubleshoot issues or modding. Heck, finding...

Re: Where to buy MW2?

I got the Mac version bundled with the PowerMac 6500/300 I got in 1997. I think I'd heard of Battletech once around 1990, give or take a year when at this summer day-camp thing my mom enrolled me in and one kid was into something very similar to BattleMechs, but I do not know for sure if it was Batt...

Re: MW2: Mercs works until I try to launch a mission

It's not going to be that easy using Win10 via MechVM. At the end of the day, running a DOS version of the game using DosBox might be the best way to go. I think the 95 version of the game had both options but I think Titanium is strictly Windows 95/98/ME Some people run VM software as well to run ...

Re: Accidentally Applied Patch to Disc

How can you apply the patch to a disc? CD-ROMs are WORMs, Write Once Read Many. Once the disc is finalized, you can't burn onto it again. While the modern UDF format can allow this kind of thing, Windows would still recognize that it was burned using the older ISO-9660 format (a slight expansion of ...

Re: Creating a Boot Disk?

A few games you needed to do a few special configurations, or boot the computer without any TSR programs because they required ALL the UMB and conventional memory. Sometimes you had to switch from using expanded to extended memory or vice versa, or change config.sys, such as changing between the use...

Re: Creating a Boot Disk?

It depends on your BIOS. Since you said it was an XP computer, it probably does. If your BIOS has anything about floppies mentioned, it will probably work. I used one of those for imaging computers as Ghost had a way to set up a floppy for this purpose. Or at least it did in 2007 and later in 2011-2...

Getting started with MW4

I just picked up a box marked "Mechwarrior 4 Compilation" at the library "book sale" for $2. I know the game has supposedly been released as freeware, but it was only $2 and benefits the local library. Are there any must have patches or mods? It says "includes Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance, Black Knight E...

Did anybody use ballistics in MW2 & GBL?

I don't see a general gameplay discussion forum, so I apologize if this is the wrong choice. I've wondered for a while if anybody found the autocannons to be useful in the MW2 games. I found that I had difficulty destroying anything with an autocannon due to the hit bugs and the canons firing off al...
