Re: Minor Formats

Some notes on the COL palette file format: Consists of 256 RGB color entries (one byte per component, in the range [0, 63]). Color 0xFF appears to be treated as transparent. Range [0xF0, 0xFF] appears to be assigned the same values for every palette. Ditto for [0x00, 0x0F], except in the ALLWHT, BLA...

Re: BWD file tags

On different planets, you get different speeds out of your mech. Did we ever find out where the movement speed multiplier is stored? I'd like to know because I'd like to store the engine rating instead of the walking movement points in the .MEK files. This would legalize all engine ratings on mechs...

Re: Minor Formats

There is one of these TBL files in the TABL directory for most of the other project file directories, each containing records for every valid entry in that directory. I'm not sure why this data is present (given that it seems to just duplicate the SYMB chunk in the project file for the most part), ...

Re: Call for Help: Creating WTB's

I do not know. You were discussing this in a thread somewhere with quota, quiaff? There was some problem with invoking external BWDs, and FEFF did not work? I do not remember trying, but userstar.bwd is invoked externally, so I think it has to be possible. Or where do I err? In my not so humble, an...

Re: Minor Formats

Thanks for providing all that information. No worries :-) The sim selects icons to display in the HUD based on the resolution, but this may not be defined in the CPI. I'm asking because after patching Titanium to higher resolution, it uses smaller icons http://www.smiley-x.de/smiley.php?bild=R2VtaX...

Re: Minor Formats

Does the max_rot field define max. rotation for mech torsos? Yes. Sorry, I should have made that more clear. From the limited testing I've done, this seems to be capped at 90 degrees for mechs (I tried setting it to 180 degrees, but the sim wouldn't let it go further than 90). Non-mechs (ie: turret...

Minor Formats

The CPI file format: Defines the locations of a variety of the mech cockpit displays as a series of rectangles. The HDI file defines the rest, but I haven't decoded it yet :-) * Rectangle format: 0 - 1 : X 2 - 3 : Y 4 - 5 : Width 6 - 7 : Height * Rectangles appear in the file (from offset 0) in the ...

Re: Call for Help: Creating WTB's

I've got a working prototype. Thanks quota4stupid! MW2 accepts the WTB with the correct checksum. I have added a little demo package which can be used to replace Mad Dog's torso with the wedge-shaped Shadowcat torso from the first post. It still looks ugly, so I won't post pics, but it works. Good ...
