I'm fairly certain that if you just go to the properties of the shortcut, there is an option to change the icon.
Once you find that, just navigate to the NetMech exe and select one of its icons.

I was curious as to how everyone has their controls set up for piloting a mech. That being, what do you typically change about key mapping and do you use a game pad or other device?
I myself usually stick with the default keyboard and mouse settings.
